can someone clarify if we have to wear hi viz when on delivery? I do as I thought it was mandatory? as in the new advert some are and some are not? just wondered or do I need to get out more ?

i am new to this game 4 weeks in and no uniform at all and cant order for another 4 weeks so no high vis for me i have managed to get hold of a old fleece so much for presenting a professional image to the public

if you haven't been issued with the appropriate uniform then you cant wear it. if you have an accident due to the lack of visibility then you will have a claim as you are supposed to be supplied with the PPI, appropriate to your employment. I THINK that is the law.

You do not have to wear hi vis on delivery unless you are a driver,you might have to wear it in the yard at work or on dark mornings,but if you are on delivering on foot you do not have to wear it.However if you feel safer wearing it you can do.

thanks for that,yes I do wear it as on a rural driving duty,all sorts of answers go around if we should wear them etc,as for the new guy without any its pretty poor I have to say,no excuses it should have been sorted for him.and getting back to the high viz they do warm up a tad in summer,but not sure they will ever get it spot on with the uniform

The DOM in my unit only makes drivers wear it.
But the DOM in an office not far away makes all their staff wear them.

Personally, I think everybody should wear them.
All it takes is an accident/incident, and no doubt the manager will ask why the postie wasn't wearing a hi-viz vest.
