Management? Couldn't manage a corpse!

So on Saturday I informed management I would be cutting off as I had plans to see my family and had to catch a train. It was a busier Sat that usual. DOM was rather aggressive towards me asking how many days I had known I was going away and why I hadn't told him before... now I was under the impression what I do outside of work hours is none of their business and overtime is optional!! He told me to just leave my D2Ds so I did but still had to cut off, leaving two roads which prob would have only taken me 15mins but I was in no mood to help out after the way I was spoken to! I called the office as per procedure and informed them I would be bringing some back, to which I was told to 'just deliver the first class post'
LAUGHABLE! I was also told I should have told them before I left the office that I would be cutting off... which I did. And when I got back to the office I was met by three grumpy managers who were short with me when I asked where to put the last of the post for them. Absolutely disgusting the way I was spoken too, and I'm not the most assertive of people and felt quite intimidated. :(

this is a potential union issue and bullying and harassment issue, hopefully youre a union member.
Its no business of the manager what you do outside of work, you are contracted to the hours set out. Overtime is NOT mandatory and you followed the correct procedures for cutting off.

Thank you , It's good to hear that I'm right :) Unfortunately I'm not a member of the union but the good manager is in tomorrow so I'll have a word with him. I don't want to seem like I'm causing trouble at work and I'm well aware the management will most likely stick together on this one. I will be sure to use the words bullying, harassment, dignity, fairness and respect! Is there any way to take this further without being a union member?

a very sad state of affaires isn't it,they do like to come the big I am don't they? and yes we shouldn't put up with it,make a point when and if they want help with overtime to cover duties etc.theres no need for it at all.as mentioned stick to your guns,and what you no to be correct,
