WCM Waste of Time

Why is it every few weeks for usually a couple of days, often the busiest days, several delivery persons are taken off their duty to do WCM the whole day.

When this happens there is never enough cover, and the 'cover' is always part timers that come in at 9. This means FTers have a lot more to do and get out later than they should.

All I have seen the WCM do is take photos of bins, stand around chatting with tables of coffee and sandwiches and give each other presentations, clapping each other as if they have really achieved something.

With all the cuts (PT workers, reluctance to pay OT, etc) why are they wasting money on this rubbish?

Well WCM is also about safety, so I'm told, but we have H&S reps, the managers are responsible for seeing safe practices are carried out so why do we need specific managers appointed to WCM. All I see are cards laminated with umpty dump hazards - not that we need to be shown pictures. What I would like to see is a breakdown of costs to savings........that's if anyone knows what it is...........how much for example is a box of coloured crayons........together with the tens of thousands paid in salaries to a non-productive workforce..........unless you include coloured pictures as productive.

As far as I can see WCM offers the best example of 'waste' to be cut in the Business.............but let's wait to see what the new 'incentive' arrangements are. If they're based on a share of monetary savings then we've already got a clearly identifiable potential source of money, after all there can be only so many cartoons on a notice board can't there?
