Change of duty...hours

Hi been a reserve for a while now, and was the last one employed in our office,now a vacancy has been advertised internaly in our place but the hrs will not suit 10-6pm which takes in a collection,i I currently work 7am-2:48pm which suits me perfect with kids still at school with a 3.30 finish and missus working 9-5,well looks like no one wants said vacancy in our place,can my DOM force me to take it.

no but he can do what he did in our office and threaten to move you to another office if you dont take it

No he can't force you to take the vacancy as you have a valid reason for refusing it your home circumstances that you have mentioned. Flexible working cuts both ways.

If you're a reserve, I.e. you cover peoples leave, then your job will still have to be done.
Are you in a substantive role?

If the vacancy goes unpicked, then it should be advertised in other offices in the area.

Yeah,i cover leave most of the time there are 2 reserves which was cut from 3 on our revision last year,cover most of the routes in our office at sometime during the year..would say my job would still need to be done..will have to wait and see what happens..

Just mention your missus can't do the afternoon school run. (if the worse happens could you missus change her starting time at work to 7am, and you do the morning school run)
