Rest Day Payment

I am on a 35 hour contract and I worked a rest day last week on a 30 hour round. Having received my payslip today they have only paid me 6 hours for that day should it be 7 hours that I'm entitled to?

How much do 30 hours folks get in our office? I guess it is 6 hours (on average).

Secondly, do you have to do anything extra - that is, much more than a 30 hour postie? If the answer is No, then 6 hours pay is about right.

Having said the above, they should really pay you more if the job took more than 6 hours (6 hours minimum).

If a FT postie comes in on a day off and did not do IPS, packets or double prep then that FT staff is working as a Pt staff.

I actually worked less than the 6 hours but I just assumed (maybe wrongly) that as I'm a 35 hour week employee ie 7 hrs a day then my rest day would be based on 7 hrs

In the absence of an agreement of how many hours you would get paid for by the dom, you are actually only entitled to the hours you actually worked not even the six hours for that duties standard shift, next time ask how many hours you are going to get paid for before hand and make the decision based in that whether to work or not

This is the way it works in our office.
If you are on a PT contract say 32hrs (4x8hrs), if you work one of your days off, you will only get paid for the hours up to a total of 39hrs. So if the duty is 8hrs then you will only get paid for 7 hrs taking you up to a FT'ers wage! Baffles me but this is what our Rep told me was correct.

Shouldn't just assume that, different offices are different, offices will have different local agreements or might not even have one, check with your dom before you come in to make sure you know how many hours your going to get paid

They say if I work 5 days i.e. one day on docket, then the total hours of the duty is 39, therefore my contract hrs are 32 and work one day 8hrs docket then I get paid a total of 39 hrs i.e the same pay as a full timer. This is because i would be paid 1 hr more than a full timer over the 5 days if they paid me for the 8 hours. We do have longs & shorts but it is still them same 7 hours for a 8hr docket!

If you worked your rest day on a 30hr duty that duty must be 6hrs per day, I therefore assume that they only paid you the 6 hours the duty is set out for. Next rest day pick a longer duty.

we dont have 30 hr duties or 39 hr duties just posties on 30 hrs or 39 hrs

Anything over 35 hours is overtime. If you work 6hrs on your day off you get 6 hrs overtime. If you work 8hrs you get 8hrs overtime. That's how it works in my office. Seems obvious to me, why would you get any more or any less?
