Who finishes an hour or two before their time certainly not me , not complaining about the pay rise but i am complaining about the strings attached to it and the fact that the union appear to be doing nothing about the bullying

Er who is asking you to do that? No one in my office would do that. You should be using a HCT or LWT or will be if you haven't done BT2010 yet. The army are public sector workers,i'm sure they would love our pay rise and they carry alot more on their backs than any postal worker,

5 hours with out a break? That's probably by your own choice, don't you use some of your meal relief whilst out on delivery?

4 to 5 hours ,depending on how much shites on.
We have 40 minutes built into the day,20 indoor and 20 which is took at the end(or on delivery),but most(all) just have it at the end.

We used the same tools as everyone else,yes.
We have had it in since Jan 11.

We moaned and moaned and moaned some more,"they" didnt believe us.
In the end 2 DOMs came in to test one of the walks,no large packets,no tracked,no specials,took them 6 hours.
We was then told that they could have knocked half an hour off..lol,anyway,that walk was amended,the rest are still the same.
Trouble everyday... still not had a resign,whole thing is a big joke... hence why my VR has come to safe me before I leave of my own acord after 17 years.
Every office is not the same,each office has different people.... biggest joke of all is the disparity between driving only delieveries and the park & turd duties.
2 FT manning one P&L duty and a FT and PT pair is another joke.

Its just not the same thing.

If you work in an pubic sector office environment you will be used to coffee breaks, ciggie breaks and a proper hour lunch break. You will not be expected to carry weight and walk up to 10 miles a day in any conditions. I doubt you will work every sat. You just wont work as physically hard for the money.

Funny you should say that, I am noticing in our office more ex retired police officers, a school teacher , and (proper) company managers who have been made redundant, these have all been given p/time contracts as posties.

It amuses me to think that royal mail may have recruited these due to their so called respected backgrounds, however, it doesn't make them immune from B&H off the below average intelligence DOM. I have worked with several of these new posties and they appear to be quite shocked to how these royal managers run the office and treat decent folk. I find it hard to take that an ex copper with 25 years service in the force can feel intimidated by an uneducated bully of a DOM
Some of these folks are coming in up to an hour early & taking no break unbelievable!!

so in that case you are choosing to work 5 hours, its your choice you could take your break in the middle rather than use it to get home early

The public sector is so varied you can't really compare it with RM. Some public sector workers are paid a lot more, some get worse money than us. Some work damn hard, some do feck all.

We got a decent pay rise this year albeit with strings attached. In other years, public sector workers did better than us. Taking one pay rise out of context is completely pointless!

There was a nurse being interviewed on television complaining that her £30,000 salary will only increase by 1%, Some might think that amount of money is pretty good to start off with. But unless you are a nurse, you don't know what they have to do for that money or if it's a fair amount.
