Reimbursing for own shoes

Hi,

Recently left RM and my DOM keeps phoning me asking for my boots back. I went through a pair of new walking boots that are now wrecked whilst waiting for my uniform that took months, so feel like I should be reimbursed for my shoes or keep the boots to replace them. He is threatening to bill me for them or have security knock at my house - which sounds a bit too far. I've given everything else back.

Can I claim for my boots that got destroyed before getting my uniform? If not can he do anything to charge me or get them back? They are worn in so no one else will be able to use them for health and safety reasons but his response was that they are not my property so he wants them back anyway. I understand with uniform having the logo on but boots? Hmm..

Find some dog-s**t, smear it all over them, then dump on DOMs desk (the shoes I mean)

Seems a bit excessive by the DOM but you've left it a bit late to make a fuss about using your own footwear. Hand the boots back and forget about it. It's not worth the effort.

Its a security issue as there have been cases of fake posties committing crimes. It may be minor on its own, the shoes, but people would be less suspicious if someone turned up in everything correct including the shoes.

when i left they didn't want anything back. the six month old boots were pretty gone anyway, but most of the other stuff was in excellent nick.

they hung around in the cellar for a bit, then went to the dump…

Put them in a box, post them back, with no postage on.
Hopefully, they'll have to pay the surcharge.
Either way, it won't have cost you anything.
