EVR Updates

A number of weeks ago we were approached by management about people who might be interested in taking EVR. Despite reassurances that we would be contacted soon, and that the whole process would take 8 weeks start to finish..... we have heard nothing. Has anyone else had a similar reaction?

I've seen these exercises at a couple of mail centres. There was a lot of managerial indecision, long silences, changes of minds, sliding deadlines, conflicting messages, etc. etc.

In other words, until you sign your EVR papers, don't count on it.

Exactly.....not like I made any plans post RM! Just irritating that they would instigate this...... then nothing. ;)

We were asked 4 - 5 years ago to put our names forward if we were interested in buy downs or EVR, still heard nothing.

We've just had 2 leave on EVR. Fast-tracked. Only took about 5-6 weeks. Management will be back next month for more, apparently. Although, if they want to save money, I can point them towards a couple of individuals who just drink coffee and prop up yorks.

We can all do that pinstripe, but management won't make efficiencies / savings on their own grade despite the £millions it would save the business.

Hi I've just left after 20 years ,got final payslip today with redundancy money on it, only took 6 weeks from start to finish as I waived the 12 week notice, roll on shopping tomorrow

What is the "12 week notice" ?

We were asked 4 weeks ago if anyone was interested in EVR,the WTL after we had been asked about buy downs(nobody wanted to know).
A few said they were interested but mostly just time wasters ,to see "what they are worth",I explained how you can work out what your worth,simple,dont waste anyones time.
All said and done got down to 5 names,done on seniority,I had my figure and accepted it on monday,no paperwork as of yet.See how it pans out as Im not sure of the exact process.

Edit; when I say no paperwork,there was a printed sheet with some payments on it.I mean no signing,just a verbal yes I`ll accept it.

It's 12 weeks statutory notice they give you but you can agree to waive it which means you can finish earlier and seeing as I hated the job so much after 20 years that's how bad it has gone I signed the form to waive the notice period and leave earlier which was only 2 weeks ago and today's payslip just came and money in bank tomoz, I wasn't expecting it till next week either, happy days

Do they give you a finish date ? and how long did it take you since the initially verbal acceptance when the DOM told you youre figure ?

DOM phoned me on 30th January with figure I accepted over the phone then on 21st February offer of redundancy papers came through the post to home address, which I immediately signed and sent back then 25th feb letter back off them to confirm acknowledgement of the offer then on 28th feb signed a waiver if notice form in the office , then got finish date letter on about 3rd of march saying final day of service will be sat 15th march and then like I said got in today and payslip waiting with the confirmation of payment in bank tomorrow

Yes had the same happen to me, not once but THREE times, gone through the whole procedure and never heard anything
