amount of time on ips

My office has some people getting 2 in 6 saturdays off and I know this means they work more than 39hrs in a week to get the 2 saturdays off. I've been doing 45 mins on ips same as the duty holder but I've been told as a reserve working 7hrs 48 mins a day I only need to do 30 mins. Is this right?

Is there something somewhere that tells you how long ips or portering each duty should be doing? Where would I find this info?

every office will vary there is no set amount of times, it will be whatever each duty is planned for, if you are a reserve only working 7hr48 covering a say 8hr15 min shift then you should ask your dom what your duty should include, as the duty your covering has been planned with more hours than you have in your shift, and then basically follow his instructions and if there is not enough time to complete your duty in your time follow the cut off procedure

Ask for a little room where you can go for a nap when it all becomes too much.

What is portering? In our office the LM does this. We don't have the budget apparently. If we were not major shareholders i would care. But feck them. They will be unemployment stats soon enough.

20% between how many mc staff let me guess correct be less then hour forty

When the walk sequencing machines were introduced we were told that they would sort the majority of loose mail and that we'd be spending a nominal time on ips .....the reality couldn't be more further away than the truth....as someone posted they were on ips for an hour and 40....we weren't even on that long in the good old days....and they have the cheek to tell us that mail has dropped dramatically

Why? There's people out on delivery for 4-5 hours without a break during it. 1h40m of IPS is a drag but it doesn't need breaking up.

my office has been doing park and loop for about 4 years. was told before it started we would be on sorting for 30 mins. 4 years on that still hasnt happened most days it is 1hr 45 mins.

another reason why IPS takes so long( in our office for example) is because half of the IPS sorters are throwing off PT duty rounds .Plus all the downstream access Tesco/Matalan etc which for some reason cannot be walksorted
Part timers used to come in early before revision when it used to be job and knock and it was to their own benefit but now come in at their proper start time.
You have the lino and DOM throwing off rounds due to the staff absences

if the lino and DOM are throwing off rounds get the rep to lodge a grievance about it, they are taking work off of posties, if there is too much work for the ft staff then they will just have to give the extra hours to pt staff
