Management ignoring grievances
In our office we've got around 10 grievances that are building up......some are now 4 months old, dragging on with no end in sight. These aren't just petty things either, these are legitimate managerial (obviously) bullying/harassment/attitude issues, a daily practice in our office from personal experience.
The local rep and regional rep have tried and tried relentlessly to get the issue(s) sorted but keep getting frankly given the middle finger week in week out, being promised that they will be sorted out, only to have them shoved back to the bottom of the pile and told they have no time to sort them.
Why is this allowed to happen?

Re: Management ignoring grievances
There are laid down time scales and I believe it is mandatory for an investigation to take place within 3 months of an official complaint.
There is no doubt a new version of this doc but I don't suppose it will be too far away:

Not wanting to aggravate you but the question could be turned back to you and your colleagues. Why are you allowing to happen.thevardinator wrote:

If 10 are outstanding and none are being dealt with then you have to bring it to peoples attention. There are many ways of doing this: (list is not exhaustive but starts at what I think is least effective choice)
1. Put in a grievance about how the grievance is being handled.
2. Have a gate meeting and see if you can get some consensuses about your next step.
3. Contact Moya.
4. Ask for a Rule 13 ballot.
5. Contact the local press anonymously.
6. Go wildcat and hit the gate or canteen.

I believe a few of those are being looked into as we speak and we wont stop until the issue is sorted.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Not wanting to aggravate you but the question could be turned back to you and your colleagues. Why are you allowing to happen.thevardinator wrote:

Re: Management ignoring grievances
A grievance should be dealt with within 28 days.
If not, then you (or others that have filed), should file a stage 2 complaint with the manager of the person failing to deal with the original grievance.
You should re-state your original complaint, add the failure of the manager to deal with it, and include any paperwork (including a copy of the original grievance/letter of receipt of it being filed) as evidence.

Or you could email Moya's office and threaten to go to your local mp which in our case got the grievances heard within a week and we won.UnhappyGremlin wrote:A grievance should be dealt with within 28 days.

All that matters is that they are MADE to actually do their jobs and resolve grievances/investigate issues properly and promptly.
Though, they should deal with issues and grievances WITHOUT the need for any staff member to take any action other than speaking to their manager/filing their complaint.
As usual, RM and its managers just try and ignore complaints and hope we get fed up of waiting and give in.

Re: Management ignoring grievances
I put in a grievance for B and H against my lino and DOM back in early October. Had full backing from the union. RM ignored this and I left RM at the end of January this year without this being resolved.

You don't file a grievance for B&H.tigercat wrote:I put in a grievance for B and H against my lino and DOM back in early October. Had full backing from the union. RM ignored this and I left RM at the end of January this year without this being resolved.
It's a formal complaint to HR, fill in a H1 form.
Ask for it to be dealt with by a manager from a different postcode area.
It should take around 21 days.
