Special Delivery question

Please help clear up a bit of confusion...

Say I go and do a special delivery first as it's near then end of my walk and I will not get there before 1pm, the customer is out so I scan item into pda as not delivered/no answer and leave a p739. A few hours later (after 1pm) I park up over the road from this address to finish off my walk and the customer who is now back home comes out with his 739 and asks if I have his delivery.

So if I say yes and then scan it as delivered, is it a failure as it's now after 1pm or is it ok because delivery was first attempted earlier in the day and the pda tracking shows the time and location when it was originally scanned.

It was suggested by one postie that you deny it was you and explain that it will of gone back to the DO, but that sounds a bit dodgy to me.

I had this a few weeks ago.It's ok to rescan the item, as attempted delivery was before 1'o clock.

Of course not. Only the first attempt has to be before 1pm ( but keep in mind that the PDA can show where, or at least how far from office, the item was scanned so never just scan it undelivered without ever going to the door with a view to going later on when you get to the door ).

It would only get scanned again and marked delivered by the PHG anyway if it was sent back.

rubbish it will be a failure tell them its a time sensitive item and you can not hand it over

there is another option which i havent tried where you log off the pda then log back in as indoor does this work ?

It would not be a failure as the first attempt would be before 1pm. But as mentioned you should do the second scan at the door just incase they later say they never received or signed for it!

rubbish you would just scan the lot at 750 then do them again at 220 then and it would be ok dont make me laugh

No you wouldn't as the scan location would be logged!

If you scan it in again after 1pm it wipes the previous attempt and will show up as a failure (unless they've changed the system since my training) but you can scan it back in to the system using the DO Indoor setting and then you can deliver it, complicated yes but I have done that and had no problems with it.

Thanks, that's something I had no idea of after just ten minutes 'training' for the PDAs.
So I can rescan Recordeds and Tracked but NOT Specials.

When I was trained up on a rural a couple of years ago, I was told to scan items as out then scan again when I got there after one, if they were in. This would save hours of driving, potentially 100 mile round trips wasted. Can't remember if i ever did it, but i know some rurals did it a lot.

In the OP's case, I don't see why it would be a failure. He was there before one. It's the systems fault if it fails.

Done it number of times.
DOM says PDA records EVERY scan.

Have been given other day two barcodes. One to scan at the start of the loops and other at the ends to check loop times. So yes. PDA records every single scan or delivery attempt.

When you scan and go through the menus, the PDA sends the info off.
So, if you re-scan, it should go down separately.
Never done it myself, but logically it should be OK.
