Trollies (Again)

Sorry I have done a forum search but with no success.

Our DOM has said we have to use a trolley ALL OF THE TIME regardless of the size of loop. I'm sure we've all done loops occasionally when there is just one bundle, should you use a trolley then?

When did someone sneak sense into this job, it was never in any agreement I've ever seen, the rules say use trolley then use trolley, as I once said to my DOM If you want me to think it will cost you extra.

we had to sign that we'd had training on them and told we MUST use them except in certain situations i.e flats.
we then got issued 1 trolley per van??
don't think anyone has used them.

Yep, I get them. One Tuesday in the summer, I put my whole round in a single pouch. Yes it was rammed but it all went in.

Trolley USE is mandatory.

If the trolley is EMPTY at the very start of the loop then you are not USING it.

So lets be sensible if a little pedantic, if you are not using the trolley why pull it round.

However, if you have packets and extra bundles then you must use it.

So, if I understand correctly, if your loop is more than can be carried in your hands then you must use a trolley.

Yes, if that is what your manager wants.

Confirm with manager if you are allowed to dispense with the trolley if the bag weight is very small - less than 5kg, and if he says No, then use the Trolley.

But no point using trolleys for high-rise buildings and places where the trolley might have to be left with mail in the panier out of your line of sight for some time - best to split the loops or drive up.

The other issue is that some posties have gone ahead to split the loops put in by the planners... turning 6 loops to 12 loops in some case: so they can avoid using the trolley, of course. But wasting fuel and carrying weight in the process.

my old duty is all very hilly and very steep, a trolley cannot be used on it at all. (picture the hill in the hovis ads )
