I found out this morning I failed a special and a tracked item, the reason is I forgot to take them out my returns bag as I put my pda's away and my endorsed mail away and left them in the bag by accident, whilst I was putting my bags back at my frame and forgot all about it. If it had been normal packets I wouldn't be as worried, it's only stupidity on my part, they just had to be scanned back into the system as being back in the office. I have a clean record in the 2 years since P&L started. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

what time did they ask you about them?
they tell us they have until 8am to scan items back in from the day before.
i once forgot to scan a tracked item, my pda was nearly flat and i used my mobile to take a pic to scan it later but forgot,
item wasn't lost or anything and nothing was said really

You didn't lose them you forgot them, it's no biggie, you'll probably be told to be more careful in future and that's exactly what you will do.

The one disadvantage of the PDA over paper is the lack of a clear record of how many items you should be returning.
In the old days you knew exactly how many "signed for" items you had failed to deliver and should be returning to the cage.

Why can't the PDA give you that same information at the touch of a button?
Maybe I should write to the Courier ........

PDAs should really give a full account of the events for the day - that way we all know how many items were scanned... And an average can be taken over a period of time to tell accurately what the average traffic is - for scanned item...

That information is already availible to your dom, he can access this on his computer, tells him how many items scanned each day, what times etc

We should also be able to access such an information... With just a few clicks from the menu.

You can access such an info for Collections. It is just about the same task - scanning a bar code
