Re: maximum holidays
6 weeks (30 days) is the most you can have.
(Except if you carried over leave from the previous year, and Public BH's etc.)

Lodge a grievance with dom, get rep to help you, that should get the ball rolling

Re: maximum holidays
If you have applied and been refused A/L throughout this year, its not your fault you have three weeks outstanding. Insist on taking your entitlement(if it suits you)
A few years ago a manager offered to pay for outstanding days to prevent the chaos of hundreds of days going into the following year. It's a farce, if they offer to pay you surely the budget is there to cover it in the first instance. Our contracts entitle us leave and RM need to manage it better.

I believe the law (Working Time Regulations?) should be mentioned.zx135 wrote:bendover wrote:Many thanks. But in saying that I still have 3 weeks to take and have been told I cant have them this holiday year. !!!

It clearly states employees are to have 4 weeks annual leave per year, away from work. (May also exclude Public BH's).
There is an option for the employee to VOLUNTARILY opt out, but you can insist on having your leave, and cannot be told you can't have it.
Staffing problems are the manager/DOM's problem, not yours.
Ask the DOM his/her managers name and address, and when they ask why, tell them it's so you know where to send the grievance.

Re: maximum holidays
The law actually states entitlement of statutory 5.6 weeks paid holidayUnhappyGremlin wrote: I believe the law (Working Time Regulations?) should be mentioned.

Should start with lodging the grievance with the dom in first instance and then if no satisfactory response then you go to stage 2 which is Area Manager or equivelant, then stage 3 is regional managerUnhappyGremlin wrote: Staffing problems are the manager/DOM's problem, not yours.

best to follow the correct procedure rather than jumping stages

Re: maximum holidays
My head is also spinning on this subject, we now have half the office on 1 week in 6 and the other half(including myself) on a rolling day off throughout the week, the holiday sheet now has just five slots and one `remainder` slot that has not been filled in , I`ve been in Royal Mail employment for over twenty years and so I would expect to have my usual six weeks holiday, I asked the DOM what was going on and was told we were all having five weeks and one day!, I don`t want the last person on the sheet after five weeks thinking `that`s it` and handing the book to the DOM to be buried.
We still get six weeks don`t we?, even if your on 1 in 6?, my head`s hurting!!

If you're filing a grievance against the DOM, it can't be sent to them, as they can't deal with it.zx135 wrote:The law actually states entitlement of statutory 5.6 weeks paid holidayUnhappyGremlin wrote: I believe the law (Working Time Regulations?) should be mentioned.

If it's a grievance against a lino, then fine, it goes to the DOM.

Re: maximum holidays
No read the actual procedure, stage 1 goes to the dom he gets chance to resolve it first then it goes above his head at stage 2, your quoting the bullying and harassment procedure which would (if you so wished) go above his head at stage 1 the grievance procedure does not it goes to dom first then above his headUnhappyGremlin wrote:If you're filing a grievance against the DOM, it can't be sent to them, as they can't deal with it.zx135 wrote:The law actually states entitlement of statutory 5.6 weeks paid holidayUnhappyGremlin wrote: I believe the law (Working Time Regulations?) should be mentioned.
