Hypothetical question staff up no good
This is a hypothetical question. What would people do if a worker was taking stamps that had fallen of post ? or taking the loose change that seems to end up in pillar boxes
Does our opinions change as share holders ?
Would you turn a blind eye
Or tell dom soon as possible
Tell them its wrong

Hypothetically.....
Well you know what should be done
Question is
Will you?
Its a clear choice but very hard at the same time
Hypotheticalally I don't envy you
But theft is theft and must be reported
For example
I found a tenner in the yard
First thing I did was hand it into the locker,it was recorded
After a while it was given to me as it was unclaimed,
Never considered just keeping it.

Not your job to investigate and deal with such stuff. Leave it to those who do.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Big gulf between noseyness/investigating or having witnessed something
Like I said
Don't envy you
But why ask such a question on a public forum?

DISHONEST BEHAVIOR: Do you turn a blind eye or blow a whistle?
Personally I wouldn't report the matter directly to management but I would not simply ignore it either and would probably ask my rep to remind the employee of his responsibilities and what constitutes dishonest behaviour. If the rep didn't wish to get involved I would seek advice from area CWU ... the problem is in these cases it is usually one persons word against another. I would not want to see a person lose his employment for what many would see as a trivial matter however it is theft and theft cannot be tolerated ... if you make the decision to ignore this type of behaviour where do you draw the line? it is a very slippery slope.

The bad apples undermine the public's faith in ALL postal staff, and damage RM's reputation with business customers. If that leads to loss of contracts, that threatens jobs and, potentially, my personal livelihood. So I would (hypothetically) report the buggerBudfrog wrote:.... "Does our opinions change as share holders ?" - there might be the inclination since pirateisation, working for money grabbing foreign shareholders rather than as a public service, to be less likely to report theft or fraud like this but everyone must decide for themselves, these maybe being borderline cases somewhere between stealing £20 notes out of birthday cards and claiming half an hours overtime that hadn't really been worked.postie222 wrote:This is a hypothetical question. "I found a tenner in the yard" - I too would have handed it in.spiderj wrote:Hypothetically.....

When a colleague boasts about finding a fiver or tenner on their round the previous day suggest it might have been planted by the IB

If you find a note on the public footpath it's finders keepers. If it's on private property leave it alone.

No it's not.bigbazza wrote:If you find a note on the public footpath it's finders keepers.
It all depends on whether it's lost, mislaid or abandoned.
The general principle is.. A finder of property acquires no rights in mislaid property, is entitled to possession of lost property against everyone except the true owner, and is entitled to keep abandoned property.
What that means in practice is that a note is never likely to be considered abandoned therefore legally it has to be handed in to the police and after a reasonable period of time if the true owner does not claim it...it becomes yours.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I found a white gold and diamond bracelet.fishtank wrote:

I handed it into the police. They put it into a police auction.
It didn't become mine.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
