We have a vacancy for a new position of delivery support. It has been advertised as
a specialised duty and therefore will be selected by interview rather than seniority.
Is this right or is it the manager chancing it to try and get someone they like installed.

I thought all the delivery support functions were assumed by line managers.
It is strange to see the role returning.
Or is the (singleton?) manager trying to get a line manager back by the back door (so to speak)?

Didn't get to see the details apart from times, transporting mail to hub on Saturday afternoon and that the job will cover absence if needed.
Have text someone who should know as he was applying.
There is a deputy manager applying but he is way down the seniority list.

Its doing the DODR, Holidays, wages. Basically running the office but no Saturday off as they do the final feed to the hub.
Also covers Callers office job once a week.
God knows why anyone would want it but it is being chosen by skills for the job and not seniority.

I was the only person out of an office of 150 who was willing to cover the regular DOM/delivery support chap.I had 3 weeks training and I still can't get my head round RCS. You've also got DODR, PSP and all the other 3 letter abbreviations. On the plus side, it's a break from pounding the streets but I wouldn't want to do it all the time.
