Upping hours from 24 to 29
I've been with the RM for just over 6 months now. Happy with my job so far though I suppose its still early days. Though im only on a 24 hour contract, ive managed to work over 40 hours pw most weeks. I spoke to my union rep a few months back and he mentioned that plans were in place to increase our basic hours to 29 so as to help finish prepping and bring us more in line with the full timers finishing times. Nothings been mentioned since and im still on 24 hour contract. Have any of you part timers heard the same thing at your depots? Do you think it will happen?

After our revision all the usual 24-hours part-timers were made up to 27.5hrs to keep in line with finishing time and to allow more time due to the added on responsibilities...
So the 27.5 hour Pters have a bit more time to do missorts, perhaps a late mech box, packets, redirections and bagging up. Moreover, the FT partner will never be able to fully prep an additional walk if the part-timers continue to arrive on the previous times when they were 24 hours.
