Before park and loop was started we were shown a video of how it worked. How many drivers have to drop their passenger off (sometimes driving past their own starting point )then drive back to their different starting point .Then collect passenger from the passenger's last door and so on for every loop. The passenger gets a head start. How many drivers have to do extra parcels because the passenger doesn't want to use a trolly ???

If the loops are designed properly you should both start from the same point. A loop is just that - it comes back to where it starts. The loops on my shared duty are designed so that the driver has one less loop to do than me so that he has time for large parcel and specials, If he has a quiet day he takes some walking off me and if he has a busy day I take some walking off him. Took us a little while to fine tune the system but it works well for us. Input from the delivery pair on the walk is essential when planning the routes during a revision - you cannot leave it to a planner and laptop to give you a good layout !

Sounds like I've been getting shafted, because this is not what has been happening. I was moved off my old walk and had taken this one after been given bad advice. I had nothing to do with the planning. I have applied to come off the driving. I was getting nowhere with complaining. I would rather be a floater than suffer the piss taking

You are on a shared duty, you both leave for delivery at the same time and you both return just before your finish time.

In between that you are paid to park at the designated parking locations use the mandatory equipment and deliver the mail at a reasonable pace following the designed loops.

Just do that and inform your partner of your decision to do so.

If you both finish the loops at around the same time it doesn't matter what you do as long as you are both working all the time as far as I am concerned. Where time is wasted is when one or the other doesn't finish at the same time regularly on a particular loop. This needs sorting out between you. Some guys I have worked with are quite happy to sit around waiting for you by the van day to day and never offer to give you a 'lift' when they can see you some way away. They usually are chatting on the phone or looking at the internet

I'm a passenger (usually). Some of our loops we park, go on our way and meet back at van. Some I'm dropped off and meet at van when finished the loop. There's nothing wrong with the driver driving past his start to drop off the passenger of thats the way the duty was planned. Driver takes any packets that don't fit in my 2 bags. I use two bags and a trolley for most loops, although some loops aren't suitable for a trolley, and I have bag on shoulder.

Most of drivers loops are shorter in order to give him time to do large packets. If there is none he usually helps me finish off loop. He would never consider taking packets so that I didn't need a trolley, and I would never ask. If there is a large packet for somewhere at the end of my loop, it would make sense to leave it in the van instead of carrying it around. Whoever is back at the van first will do it. If I finish the loop before van gets back, I just have to wait, although this rarely happens.

Sounds great eh? The system more or less works, but the workload is too great at least three days a week, there is too much driving (duty is spread over three towns), and a lack of training means I'm often helping out my driver for the week, as I don't have a regular.

The walkers jobs a lot more physical , the drivers also (depending on the driver) got a better chance of keeping warmer n drier in his cosy van now n then . ( if he's that way inclined but there is ppl that are abusing that position )

The passenger is always waiting for me to drive to them. Four of his loops are supposed to be done with a trolly but they say it can't be done that way, but the planner designed it that way?

The trolley debate goes on n on , I use mine , easier on the old body ,but loads a guys in our place never used one at all so far . They are useless in the driving wind though , like last week .
