Day off

Need a bit of help. Not got my own walk but been covering a floater duty for the past 4 weeks, and have been told will be on it for a few months. The rostered day off for this duty next week is Saturday but they have changed it to Wednesday. Is there anything I can do to make them change it back

If your Manager isn't scheduling the resource plans three weeks in advance then tell your Rep that you do not wish to be changed at short notice. You could refuse to have a Christmas Day given to you at short notice because your Manager should have offered you an day off prior to that day in lieu of that non service day.

Or you could simply claim 8 hours overtime instead of them owing you a days holiday, this is in the 2013 xmas arrangement and can not be refused

It will be the way of it till you sign for your own floating duty I'm afraid. Just let them know that you expect a Saturday off in the next couple of weeks for fairness and see what they say.

I am on packets during xmas and my manager said i could only have tuesdays off. But on xmas week he said he will put my day off as wednesday. I said can it be tuesday but ill work it and book for a full day and he said yes.

The other option is to tell them you made plans that cant be changed. Usually works with us.

Make a record of all saturday off you have and then file a grievance as reserves deserve saturday off as well as regular ones. You are entitled to one saturday off every 6 weeks. Speak to union rep and if that don't work, use area rep.
