Real finishing time likely to be?

Can someone tell me what time im really likley to finish work? I just started yesterday and my hours are 9.15 - 3.15, didnt really want a job where i would finish much later than this as it takes me long to get home as not local. Is it likely to be earlier finishes on a saturday? and can you get the odd sat off every couple of weeks. Im not to sure what my true finishing times are going to be as out with another postie at the moment. What if i finish round early, does that mean u can go?

how long is a piece of string ,, usually you will get finished an hour earlier on a sat,, cos everyone is on a flier ,, saturday off depend on what your duty is ,, your office could be 1 in 4 or 1 in 6 but is if your a reserve its usually 1 in 52

You really need to ask people in your office as I think this all varies massively from place to place.

For me, on average it's about 2:30 finish, Saturday more like 2:00, I am a reserve and don't get many Saturdays off but in my office am entitled to 1 off in 6. Usually have to remind them of that though.

Is that with a starting time of 9.15am? or do you have to start ealier to finish that time?

Honest answer....If you want to attempt to deliver every last piece of mail, you're going to be out til 5 or 6 pm as a newbie and with the increased parcels etc this Christmas.

Also don't forget to take your meal relief either, don't let them browbeat or pressure you into doing work that cannot be done, or completed even.
Talk to the regulars in your office about any walks you may have to do/cover etc and ask for any advice that will help you do your job fairly, and not where you're expected to rush around to get things done.

All walks are timed, that's to say there is a given time for each walk, taking into account a number of different factors, and if done correctly then you can more or less work out how long it will take you to do a delivery by the amount of mail/packets etc you have for it. i.e; a full pouch of mail on my loops is approx. 45 mins for each one. Some people may have more or may have less, it's all dependent on delivery points.
But as your contracted times are 9:15 - 3:15 then don't go over this time.

Our office is just simply mad in each walk ... Some walks you will see people coming back around 1-2 hours before the last walk...

Also the factors involving loops depends on the layout.. My walk has about x1.5 more loops but take between 5-40 min loops
