A day off is good for you

I appreciate that many people on here need to work extra time to keep up with the expenses of life but think of something that may do you more good than that. Today I am taking my day off - I realised nearly three years ago when our P&L revision was due, that the changes in workload would take their toll on me - and sure enough they have.
Today I have woken up full of enthusiasm because the time is my own, I am baking bread, listening to music, taking my daughter out for lunch and catching up with things I ignore or forget because for the other five days of the working week I am exhausted at the end of the day.
Do yourselves a favour - take your day off - it is there to maintain your physical and mental well being - not your bank balance.

Went back to work today after my lovely long weekend and found most of yesterdays mail in the frame What the fooks going on? Complained and get some help but all of that good feeling from the weekend was gone in 30 seconds!

Couldn't agree more!.I'm on my rest week after working non stop for 6 days a week for the last 5 weeks,and it's so nice to take things easy and finally rest without feeling exhausted,physically and mentally.

Pre p & l on 1 in 6 shift I was fine. Now still on 1 in 6 but on p & l I am shattered by end of Week. Aching legs and feet etc etc. Looking forward to next week as it is my week 6 off. Busiest week of the year off. Excellent. Catch up on DIY, Xmas baking, family time.

Yeah my bodies now in bits with years of walking etc ,knees n shoulders are a mess now. The walks are even longer now,but what do u do ,,get another job? Scary what this job has done to my body in all this years.

Amen. I've worked one day off all year!

Even if I have absolutely nothing to do, just being able to lie in in the morning and relax is something I wouldn't give up. Yeah, I can't afford everything I want, but I accept what I have got and make the most of the free time. Work to live!

I've worked my day off every week for most of the year, missing about two the most. When the OT is necessary (christmas time) they only go and stop it, too many staff apparently. This is the first time in fifteen years that I've had a day off in December.
Still, yesterday was cool, up at 9 am (!) and so forth, so yes, a day off every now and then is good for you

I worked 6 days a week for 18 years and resented it so was very pleased when we won the fight for a 5 day week. I always take my rest day. Your body needs it more now than ever.
