Transfering

I work at an office 20 miles from my house, which is costing me about £160 a month in petrol with a 40+ min commute each way. I've just noticed a job has been posted in my town but at my interview I was told you can't transfer until you've been with the company for 12 months, and I only started in February. Is that true? I could apply like anyone else but then my wage goes back down to £8.58. Also I work 30hrs, the other job is for 25, don't suppose there's any chance if I could transfer that they'd keep me on 30?

Go to the local office and talk to the Dom and see what he/she can do for you as they probably rather have someone with 10 months experience than a new one off the dole.

Glad this topic has come up. Ive been at mine 4 months and was thinking of transferring or trying at least after the new year. Interesting to find out it can be done as little as 6 months time. Its a risk I guess cos I actually like my DO but its 12 miles away and my nearest one is 1.5 miles away and if I end up in a DO which is run like a boot camp then ive made a big mistake but it is the gamble im willing to risk.

I have transferred 3 times and visiting the office you want to go to and having a face to face is the best option
