Anyone know the procedure for a family funeral special leave ie. how much leave do you get for Mother, Father, Brother/Sister, Auntie/ Uncle close friends etc. Thanks in advance.

Had no holidays left for my father in laws funeral, known him 20+ great guy. In the end they offered to take a row off my duty. I was 30 mins late, wish I phoned in sick.

TAKE AS LONG AS YOU NEED MATE FOR MOTHER, FATHER, BROTHER, SISTER EFF ALL THEY CAN DO IT,S CALLED GRIEVEING AS FOR REST AUNTS UNCLES NEPHEWS NIECES NIECES YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR OWN LEAVE. DEPENDING WHO YOUR MANAGER IS YOU MAY GET 3 DAYS SPECIAL LEAVE FOR M,IN LAW F,IN LAW IF YOU ARE HELPING OR MAKING THEIR FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS.

No nothing but I don't do any favours but don't ask for any so they can f**k off!.

From the Special Leave Guide :

If arranging a funeral up to one week with pay, which includes the bereavement, arranging the funeral and any other duties (This is for arranging funerals of next of kin or as an executor). For the death of next of kin and blood relative, (spouse, civil partner, long standing unmarried relationship, child, parent, sibling) up to one week with pay (No additional week is allowed if the person is arranging the funeral).For a more distant relative e.g. parent in law, grandparent, aunt, uncle- one day with pay.Discretion for additional time off in exceptional circumstances where care of a dependant is involved, however where prolonged time off is required this might be without pay or from holiday entitlement.

I think you mean YOU definitely didn't get special leave for uncle , aunt etc etc.
Others used the guidelines as stipulated in the Special Leave document and did.
Unless there is a new updated version which has downgraded the leave entitlements.

aiden01, follow the link in Teebs post above and have a read of the Special Leave Guide. You'll find that you ARE entitled to a day off, with pay, to attend the funeral of a distant relative. The post maybe five years old but i think the guide is still relevant.

sorry pinky 1 just seen your post I have been refused special leave twice in last 18 months for funerals one for a nephew and the other my aunt. I have had to use my own leave on both occasions. had contact with area rep and he contacted cwu hq and there reply wasn't very clear on the matter either so just gave up in the end.
