Brigg - Major shake-up of Royal Mail deliveries

A SHAKE-UP of the way letters and parcels are delivered in the Brigg area has been announced by Royal Mail.

The firm says the changes – that will see a re-organisation of delivery routes – are to "protect and maintain services".

Letters have been received by residents informing them of the changes, and Royal Mail accepts there may be a "period of adjustment" as the changes are implemented.

It says deliveries will continue throughout the morning to Brigg residents but that they will continue for longer throughout the day.

Because of the re-organisation of the service, the time people receive their mail may change and this will depend on where they live.

No exact details of the new routes have been provided at this stage.

Doug McLeish, Delivery Sector Manager for the Brigg area, explained the reason behind the changes.

"We introduced the changes in order to maintain and protect services and to keep our prices as low as possible," he said.

"These changes have already been made in many parts of the country and will be introduced in more areas over the coming months.

"These changes may mean someone different from your local office will be delivering to you.

"However, I am confident all of my local team will continue to provide the reliable, friendly service you have come to expect from us and of which we are very proud."

Mr McLeish said the changes come as a result of changing postal habits.

He said: "Far fewer letters are now posted every day and we need to re-organise our delivery routes to be as efficient as possible.

"We also deliver many more packets and larger items, so we are going to be using new equipment to carry these even more securely and to improve the safety of our people."

Royal Mail says that if mail volumes vary, then a decision to temporarily adjust delivery arrangements and times may be made.

The changes come as part of a nationwide modernisation by Royal Mail in a bid to improve how it operates.

It's killed our office every days a struggle . Half the office cut off but it's still a disgrace what they've done to the job. This time last year everything delivered , job no problem,,now mail left every day ,packets left ,staff leaving inc senior staff . What is the whole point of this changes ?.

Weve been in about 2 and a half years, And as a whole i think our office likes it. Steady away, use your trollies. if your not out on time, cut off...It's that tight.

I actually like working with a buddy, so try pick a good one.. The runners are just making the job harder for themselves, EMBRACE THE TROLLEY and WORKING YOUR HOURS it'll make life easier for yourself in the long run... If your still job n knock, you wont be in future
