HCT's and specials

Our office is close to it's final revision now and the HCT guys are now taking out small tracks with them. Just wondering if HCT users in other offices are taking out specials as well as tracks now and if so how do you keep them secure?

Only a few HCT duties in our office ,most are in shared vans,but we take no tracks or specials.

I'm on an HCT duty and in our office we take all specials which we can deliver before 1:00pm and all tracked

Ditto. We take all tracked and specials on HCT walks. Having to break off to ensure delivery before 1 pm is a real PITA.

We don't break off to deliver specials. Any we can't deliver after 1:00 pm goes out with our replenishment driver

In our office HCT duty's do not take specials. I think this is because specials need to be with the person who signed for them at all times or in the back of a secure van. I would doubt a HCT would be considered as secure for specials.

The problem lies with the 1pm cut off time, it is not possible with a HCT, to cut off from your duty and go to deliver SP items that could be poles apart from where you are on delivery, this is why when we did our Revision SP items went out on the van duties.. hope this helps, its all in the planning...

When you plan the route you need to work out which roads on heavier days (wed, thur , fri etc) will be beyond 1pm. The frame can then be marked with a cut off point so the dom will be able to see that any specials past that will need to be placed onto a support duty.

We take all specials, all tracked, all oversize packets, everything with an address goes in, and if you`ve too much, you send bags out.

DOM told us to keep specials on us in a pouch all the way round IB said the doms a d`ck and its clearly safer in a locked trolley, you ONLY take them with you when you leave your trolley for over 5 mins.

Think the IB guy is right.
But, get the Rep to have a chat with the DOM about it.
If he/she is certain that what they say is right, get them to put it in writing. (Don't think they will).
Then if/when it goes wrong, you have the instruction in writing and it can't be denied.

HCT's in our office take no tracked, no specials, no oversized parcels and as few small parcels as they can get away with! Still paid the same wage as the rest of us! Bless um!!

Another edict from above all but doomed to fail as the places that need before 1:00pm will on break off to do them will be on their lunch breaks themselves! Is not our wise leader who sold royal mail off on the cheep under her direction not able to make the case to the regulator Ofcom for this to be changed to 2:00pm what a complete shambles we all work for we love parcels sorry you cannot have it as it has gone 1:00pm GET ON HERE MOYA AND EXPLAIN THAT ONE NO THOUGHT ONLY DICTAT TOP DOWN ANY THOUGHTS FROM THE CLOWN!
