What exaclty do you expect to get from royal mail?

I've been in the buisness for 2 years.
someone tell me why i should strike...? when i dont agree with it, and cant afford it.

Since i've worked for royal mail i've had several pay increases- the wage is fantastic. i do not have an issue. I'm not bullied, i LOVE my work. If my job changes... its already happened. we're already privatised.

why should i strike?
I joined the union for help and advice, i never got it.
And since you all want to call me a scab- I'll stop paying to be a member. Your majority will be a minority. And then where are you...? skint and small.

my money has been lining CWU pockets... for nothing. What exactly have they done for me, other than put me in a bracket which now allows my opinions to lead to me being harrassed and bullied...! WHERE HAS FREEDOM OF SPEECH GONE...?

I'm not living in the past like most of you. And i wouldnt know any different... I've only been here for 2 years. How many other people are there, out there... just like me... totally clueless and just wanting to do whats right... and why would they turn down that sort of money on a temp contract!!?

I'm very interested to know- how you can persuade me to change my mind... or do you enjoy picking fights with strike breakers?

how would i know what they have done...? no-one tells me... i dont know the history... how many new staff... are also just as clueless as me? i have to look up cwu for myself when i started for RM.

you can do what you want no one is forcing you to do anything, many years down the line you can think back to this moment and remember what you did.

Let me tell you , people like me for over 20 years striking and fighting RM for decent wages , did you think they decided to pay us decent wages overnight, we have had to fight for everything we have, that you have now.
Ucw then Cwu have got us to here though hard work and fight, think about that before you spout off.

my job search.. included care homes and stacking shelves all at minimum wage. Even with a degree, managerial experience, years of customer service, this was the ONLY job i could find and i was so greatful when i got it....
cannot live on minimum wage.

This is unskilled labour yet it pays more than some jobs you need a degree for.
We have mostly substantive contracts and are still predominantly a full-time company,we have paid sick leave and framework to deal with surplus employees that's better than anything out there,we have a commitment to no compulsory redundancies and an ill health agreement that let's you leave with almost a full year's pay.

Are you willing to bet all that on the kindness of our employer and risk going back to looking for minimum wage jobs...can you afford to?

Personally I would not want you to change your mind. You must do as you feel is right. What that says about a person is another matter of debate.

However I would prefer that you left the CWU as there is no place for you within our Union with your opinion.

The only way we can be sure of our future terms and condition is to all stand together! Maybe all is good for you at the moment but give it time, you will feel the effects of a poor royal mail manager one day, I hope you are still in the CWU when that happens.

The only reason we will lose this battle is if we are divided, think about what we have and how we got it, do you think royal mail would have given what we have if the CWU was not there. Of course not!!

we are the true strength in Royal mail, stand with your fellow members and do what is right!

Never cross a picket line!! as it is a last resort.

Royal Mail Propaganda

The latest letter from the Chief Executive of the Royal Mail Group is an act of desperation and discrimination.

The legal and factual position is as follows:

• The company cannot discriminate against any employee for supporting their Union in a legally constituted Ballot for Industrial Action.

• Neither the Royal Mail Group nor CWU can ever reach an agreement that discriminates financially against any individual.

• A final agreement will not be based on the previously rejected pay offer, or the content of the Chief Executive’s divisive letter and beliefs.

• A final agreement will deliver an improved pay and reward package that treats everybody equally – along with further company concessions on all the issues involved in this dispute.

The Chief Executive’s position is not sustainable.

Your collective strength will be the decisive factor - vote yes.

look mate its down to you if you agree in fighting your own battles and as you say you dont get no problems with
your manager and are happy in the way things are going in royal mail there is not alot you can say.
but beleave me things do change and very quickly i have seen the honest and most liked postman and postwomen
get stiched up by management and once this happens your nightmare begins.i don,t need to go into details in what has
happened in the past but remember every week reps all over the country are saving staff there jobs.if your not in the
union who can you get to help you out.
its not just your job our union is therefore they can help you on legal rights/sickness/medical/accidents/loans and
any other problems.when i first joined royal mail i was doing the cards for the first two weeks at our head-office then
the managers dissapeared and in came the union officals told us about joining the union everyone signed up after there talk and it was the best money i have ever spent.
to work for royal mail you need to be in the union.
