How were strike breakers treated last time after the strike?

Where they shunned by strikers, abused etc?

Was it all forgotten in the fulness of time?

They were treated decently enough at our D.O, they knew they had done bad so we just gave them a wide mark for a bit.

No, you don't forget who crossed the line, its just something you remember. In fact if they get a bit mouthy now and again I like to remind them, some laugh it off through gritted teeth, some just tell us to go f, fair enough I suppose!

Never forgotten and never part of the crew anymore, ever.

For example a guy at our place has a holiday home by the coast. Really nice place and he lets it out very cheap for people at work.

One of the few, who choose to come to work on a strike day, normally stayed for 2 weeks in the summer at this guys place. The following year (I guess him thinking the strike long forgotten) the scab approached our friend to book his 2 weeks but was told to Feck Off. End off.

So his two weeks down the coast cost him about £800 more than it would have done.

Also swapping days off and overtime all come into account in the years ahead.

A few years back when we had delivery frames with pigeon holes, a scab came in after a strike to prep his job, after about an hour he went to the toilet, when he came back all the prepped mail was back on the board and his pigeon holes were empty..he reported it to the line manager, but they couldn`t finger anyone, after that he would never leave his board until he was tied up

Fair enough.

You have to be really careful though just after the strike whilst emotions run high and managers are ready to jump. Personally I would not recommend any direct action.

so rather than educate them, just kick them out, so over time our membership will get smaller and smaller as we kick them out, it would mean the cwu's influence would decrease and decrease

The silent treatment is the best and most sensible option. Anything else could lead to trouble and won't achieve anything. Anyone who crosses a picket line is either so desperate that they need the cash that they have no choice, or a completely selfish cock with no self respect and probably no friends. I pity both in equal measure but wish them no harm!

the manager is also afraid of these guys doubt he would do anything. bullying runs rife in our office and im not talking about manager - postmen its postmen - postmen.
