On holiday/asked to come in to work

On holiday at present and just had lino phone (11.30am) asking me if I could work. Politely told him I couldn't. Does this just happen in my office or is this nationwide????

nationwide, you should get him to put lists up on the wall in the DO, if your willing to come in on short notice ie day, if your willing to come in on short notice ie holiday and if your willing to work extra on the day, DOM asks the names on these lists first before he asks anyone else

I've had that, didn't mind, he didn't think to offer to pay me for working during my annual leave or to give me another day back some other time, so I claimed and got that days leave back which I understand to be the correct procedure.

I couldn't do it. They also phoned first week of my holidays but I was in Thailand. Personally I think it should be made law when your on holiday your unable to attend work. I know its unlikely.

In the 2010 agreement it states you are not allowed to come in on overtime or scheduled attendance when you are on annual leave.

Neither in my office.I wanted a week off and was told i couldnt have it as it was fully booked.Then the 2 members of staff who booked that week come in on overtime.

They've stopped people coming in while on annual leave at ours now, they used to allow you to work one day.

didnt say our office, just the ones in our area, and the area rep is s**t thats why ours is standing against him next election :)

if you dont try then your not going to know, its not a pointless fight to try and shift a poor rep, even if you dont manage to shift him might put the wind up him into bucking up his idea

Why would anyone want to work when they are on leave

cant get out of the building quick enough.
