Open and torn cards and letters

I've been a postman for well over 10 years and used to prep my own round,I do it a certain way,anything torn or open goes to the locker to be put in one of those "sorry bags" before being prepped,a bit time consuming but it's the way I have done things now however other people are chucking my round out and I often get to a door ready to post and I find an open or torn card or letter that I didn't spot when I was bagging up luckily most have been unimportant rubbish but it's coming up to Christmas and I wonder if this happens to other people or just me and what do you do when you get to somebodies door and you see that the card you are about to post has been opened,our brain dead management just says it shouldn't happen.My regular partner has left and I can have a different person prep my walk everyday.

Tbh I just deliver them.

Thing is that standards drop when you don't prep your own walk on P/L
I have had previously parcels banded together that the other person has banded up and they are not for the same address.

I used to carry damage bags in my bag to cover this eventuality ... but someone on here said that was "not a good idea" as I might be seen/accused as/of damaging mail andthen using the bags - it's a right p*sser to be honest ... now I just don't deliver anything like that, take it back to the office and get it sorted from there ...

Well the locker had 2 PHGs and it was part of those duties to repair/rebag damaged packaging but now we only have one person and with the advent of PDAs etc there is no longer time for the single locker guy to repair and so each postman repairs his own. When you have a 100+ duties it makes for a major task to be repairing say 40,50,60 items a day is not possible and delays delivery. Because there is a single grade now it makes sense to spread the load.

Think this is a good idea and I've seen it used before. You could (in theory) open a card and then return it to the office for bagging, if you're not allowed to carry bags!

Used to work in an office where the POSTMAN (Not PHG or Proxi Manager as he liked to think of himself) was always running out of everything, due to incompetence. If you asked him to order some bags or stickers he always made up some excuse about not be able to or they didn't have any. Made the Real Postie's job even more difficult.

How do you go about removing some of these Incompetent, Lazy, Wasters? Anyone had any luck? When it was suggested he replaced a genuinely injured Postie, who could cover the locker, the Manager (his mate) said he had "Health Issues", which turned out to be a conveniently reoccurring "Bad Knee". How many Posties do you know who aren't carrying a few long term injuries? I know most of us suffer from bad backs....after all we're carrying all these lazy Twats!

Sounds like our rep. Atm he's trying to wangle Saturday as his regular day off instead of the usual Mondays. (This is the guy who just shrugs and says 'needs of the business' when you tell him you don't get 1 in 6 or long weekends ever) He's normally off home for 10am too, meanwhile the p/t guy in the same office works about double the hours he's paid to just to keep up with all the jobs he's been lumbered with. Makes me piss boil.

I usually just bung them through if I find one at a doorstep, luckily I mostly prep my own walks so spot anything before hand.

It's the walk preppers job to bag stuff in my office.

I did have an issue once; delivering to the dregs and this arse came out swearing at me for having stolen money from the card (there was a slight tear in the top that Houdini would have struggled getting money out of, if there was even money in it to start with).
Anyway, he asks for my name, I refused, he said I'll have you sacked for this, I wished him the best of luck. I then looked at the envelope and read the address out aloud, which annoyed him because he didn't know why I had done it (there was no reason, I was just playing the scumbag), then I just said I'll need it for later to sort things out and walked off, much to his further annoyance ranting and swearing in the background telling me not to threaten him and walk away. He faded in to the distance well and truly pissed off, whilst I continued with a smile on my face.
