ups .. that firm with brown van

cut a story short, i purchased portable usb hard drive from extak, reasonable priced. made the order on aug 22nd, to be delivered by ups, then found out because of bank holiday, it will be delivered in first week of sept. anyway, i been waiting...and waiting...and waiting...and waiting, then got fed up.

i sent email to extak on sep 12th asking where's my usb. then i sent another on the 16th and mentioned why is nobody replying.
on the 18th i received an email, but because my browser been playing up, all i could see is the words despatched.. so i assumed it's on it's way......

now i cleared up some stuff on computer, i could see the email in full. it was now saying
Dear Customer, thank you for your inquiry.

We are please to confirm that your order has been now dispatched

now i am going skitz cos computer is playing up again cos memory if more or less full and i need to transfer all my stuff onto usb so i can dtermine whether lack of memory is causing the browsing problems, or something else..

anyway, this all sounds to me that ups have been round, delivered it when i assumed it was to be signed for... besides that, i have been waiting and waiting for the effin thing and i never saw or heard up. there was no knock. at first i thought i'd keep checking the bin or the shed in case they put it in there in the case of nobody in... as today is the frist time i seen that email in full, i'm trying to work it out in my head.

the words left at mailbox is peeving me off. there was nothing pushed through the letter box, there was nothing pushed halfway through and half in/half out. and there was nothing left on the doorstep (which is not mailbox) as i would have seen something through the glass of the door then it clicked, the usb portable drive itself is around 12mm plus the usual plastic thing it sits in and the cable and as these come in boxes plus the packing, i have a suspicion that the box alone would not fit through the letter box at all. i have asked extak for the dimensions of the box. im comparing other manufacturers and they are around 50mm and the letter box itself is 35mm... actually it is 35mm on the outside and 35mm inside but because of the draught thing, the actual height of the exterior gap is 30mm

if the poxy ups left it on the doorstep, does that constitute as left at mailbox. if this is the case of ups had been round, gave the dorr a tiny tap, assumed nobody was in, put it on the doorstep, recorded it as delivered, left it there and mr and mrs local criminals and opportunists spots it and nips in very sharpish before anyone realises... what happens next?

Report it to management as leaving door step is stupid as well over the top plastic packaging. Should got it from amazon with frustrated free packaging option. (Assuming there is one for USB Stick. (Do for camera memory card)

Why not - we are a board for Posties so within reason they can discuss/moan about anything - if the subject does not interest you then there is no requirement to join in or even read it.

my experience of ups makes me use it as first choice if it's not too expensive.

if you're out, they put a card through and you can ring and tell them when you'll be in the next day.

prefer rm to parcelforce though, not least because a 739 just needs the card at the calling office, going to local po with just the card from parcelforce gets you told to go away and bring i.d.

i ordered a few bits for my pc and yes they got delivered to the wrong adress.

the house opposite has no number on and mine has a a number on.....so dpd or what ever they are called delivered to the house with no number on ..........luckily im an impatient ********** and thought it was too coincidental a van was delivering there so went to enquire further ....idiots

Couriers suck, end of. Ive had a £700 eternity ring from amazon left on the doorstep by citylink, and I live on a main road

'Eternity' - that's a tad optimistic , isn't it ?
- and for a further £50 you could have bought extra Royal mail shares.
