i know its wrong to send cash in a card via royal mail but a good friend of mine / customer told me today her grandma sent her a birthday card with some cash in SURPRISE SURPRISE it never made it to her, what makes it worse when her grandma rang her local delivery office to report it THE SCUM BAG MANAGER chuckled and said loads of things go missing in this area, SCUM BAGS

I posted something similar a while back and the person whose post it was didn't want to report it, so in the end I did to a lino and he spoke to the DOM at the office concerned. Make sure that this event is reported, get the customer or the Gran to phone the enquiry line or even do it yourself.

Yes it has happened to a member of my family as well £40.

Reported to DOM and Customer Services and gave a lecture to sender as well.

To be honest with 150,000 employees which is larger than than the population of Ipswich then we don't do that bad. Ipswich Crown Court had 350 cases appearing just between 1 Aug and 2 Sep this year.

Never send cash in the post. It is easy to steal and identify which is birthday card and it could get stolen anywhere from the post box to your local delivery office.

It happened to my sister 6 months ago. A family friend sent her a birthday card with vouchers inside and it never arrived.

Yeah, report it. If a pattern emerges in a certain office, IB should get sent in.

If you keep the receipt for a voucher and make a note of the unique code, I believe you can get a replacement, if it has n't been used already. I know that isn't the point and you should n't have to do that but vouchers can be safer than sending cash. It would also be lovely for the thief to be exposed when trying to use a voucher that has been cancelled.....

I was collecting from a TSO earlier this year and followed an old lady out of the office who had just withdrawn about £200 from the PO counter, she then proceeded to put the cash (a fair wedge) inside a card, into the envelope and straight into box outside the TSO I was about to empty. Rather than approach her and advise against it I decided to take the said envelope from the box and kept it separate from the rest of the collection mail and upon returning to the office explained to the lino what I had witnessed. To his credit (being one of old school mentality) he showed concern and decided to forward the item via Special Delivery off his own back...

From what I've heard there are certain members of the criminal fraternity will get themselves jobs at M.C.s just to get access to all the various items of mail that are valuable to them... bank cards, I.D. statements etc.. the fact that they're getting paid by R.M. whilst they're carrying out their nefarious activities is just a bonus for them!

A lot goes missing around Xmas when they employ god knows who at the mail centres. We then get cards with very precise slits cut in the sides, must use a razor blade or something.

We have to just put them in a damaged bag and deliver them.

How on earth do you know that?

How do you even know it was a postie? Is it not usually the mail centre?

When I asked about all the cards that are slit open at Christmas, I was told it was happening in the mail centre and they are looking into it.

didnt mean it went missing from that delivery office, i meant thats where the manager was from who said things always go missing, how do i know it was a postie, the lady hand delivered it to the delivery office so its gone missing from then who else could it be it went missing in the hands of a rm employee still bad enough

Why would anyone hand deliver mail to a delivery office? Most delivery offices have mail boxed outside and those mail boxes are collected and the mail goes to the Mail Centre...

This is one of the reason why I do not accept mail (for onward postage) from a customer. I do not need them questioning my integrity if things goes wrong. Moreover, I might even forget the damn letters or just stick it with the forward missorts instead of a letter mail box.

Customers need to follow the procedure - letters in a mail box or recorded/special at the post office. There is no need to hand things to counter staff, posties or PHGS (depot offices).

Yes, there are so wrong-uns but given the number of items we carry, I think they are very very small in number.
