Royal Mail to make changes to service in Bourne

Royal Mail is making changes to the way it delivers mail in the PE10 postcode area from this week.

Postmen and women will reduce the number of delivers they make on foot using a post bag and will use a van with lightweight trollies instead.

Revised delivery routes in Bourne and the surrounding area will be adopted.

The postal service is making the changes because fewer letters are being posted. The firm says it needs to reorganise its delivery methods and routes to be as efficient as possible.

A spokesman said: “Royal Mail will continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day.

“Many customers will continue to get their mail by lunchtime.

“The time customers receive mail will depend on where they live on the new delivery route. This may be later or possibly earlier than current delivery times.

“When mail volumes vary, we may need to adjust delivery arrangements and times.

“These changes will require a period of adjustment for staff. However, Royal Mail will be doing everything possible to maintain a high level of service and thanks customers for their understanding.”

Royal Mail is writing to every address in Bourne about the changes.

If customers have any queries after they have received a letter, they can call Royal Mail customer services team on 0845 601 1399.

By bullying and harassing staff to meet unachievable delivery targets. I think we should all write to David Cameron and ask him why he has agreed to take 40,000 cycles off of delivery routes but at the same time pontificate that the public where possible should be riding to work on them.
