They should risk assess it and at least provide you water.

completely agree, its easy enough for us to cover up and carry a small bottle of sun cream to apply but we'd each need half the HCT dedicated to water bottles to ensure WE carry and take in enough during this heat.

We have 4 support duties each day bringing out extra bags don't see why each of those vans can't carry a few of big 5l bottles to top us up as they are coming to us already

Got back to my bike today and some nice person had put a bottle of water on it for me. Was gobsmacked, don't know who did it.

I had 2 litres of water and a tin of coke so I was happy enough although my partner did suffer a bit........maybe they'll bring more water tomorrow

I'm not a great one for the heat but after the crappy winter we've just had I can cope with the sun for a few days (while it lasts).

Big hat, plenty of water (freeze it overnight), sun block and going at a sensible pace with breaks under trees when possible.

Nevertheless though, Royal Mail should be made to look at their careless restructuring of walks.
It may not have happened yet.......But, this job will result in the death of somebody, of that, I think most of us are sure.

The real issue is in this country heat like this is a novelty (much like snow) so we have an attitude of "enjoy it while it lasts" we (individually and as a whole) really fail to prepare and have no planned responsible way for dealing with it.

RM and other organisations come out with plenty of advice, which will generally shift the blame on to us if something goes wrong but at the same time they completely fail to offer or provide the actual support we need

It is knackering in this heat.
I usually carry water then get a bottle of lucozade or red bull from the shop i deliver to. It's just over half way round so the sugar rush perks me up a bit.
Felt like dying yesterday though, it was grueling.

long sleeve tops not too much of an issue as the issue shirts are a reasonably light weight, I wont be wearing the trousers they are far to warm for this weather (yet no where near warm enough for winter) but walk in the shade? in the middle of the day??? no problem i'll just put off starting my delivery until 7 pm
