New scan on delivery

Out today, had a packet for a house. Looked at it and it had a barcaode, and under said scanned on delivery( it was RM 1st class) I thought it had no GB on the end but thought I would try it . Was only numbers and the scanner would not accept it.Anyway anyone seen any of these and are they the new way of scanning all packets?

No I've been noticing them.

It seems that these private eBay sellers put what they like on their packets so they "seem" like they are tracked through our system.

I've seen "tracked door to door " aswell

theres loads of these things on packets they say anything like anti theft barcode and the likes i will look the next couple of weeks and post again

Had one this morning , said Royal mail tracked to your door and about ten numbers on a red sticker. Had ebay printed address label on it.

No, of course he wouldn't are you being exactly what you said in the deleted post. He did it as an experiment, absolutely nothing wrong in that its called educating yourself about the job.

I think some Ebays are using generic tracking stickers to bump up their P&P prices

If in doubt scan it then you'll soon recognise what's legit.
Its the China ones that caught me out a few times.

Also when I started first thing I did when unsure was ask the first experienced postie/Phg etc I saw.
Better to catch an issue before it gets to lino then you've to explain why you did/didn't scan.

Just wish the PDA was better or even fit for purpose.

From what I've heard for DO staff the pdas won't accept any barcodes that don't end in GB (unless RM have updated the software since for the DO side).

PDAs will accept international barcodes, a lot of them will scan and not require a signature but they scan just fine as if they were Royal Mail Tracked so I tend to scan everything.

Recently I've had packets from China with a normal looking Chinese tracking number on it but under the barcode it will say "no signature required" yet when I scan it it requires a signature . I also had a recorded item from abroad somewhere in Europe I scanned the barcode and it was just numbers, no letters before or after just numbers. It required a signature tho. Lastly I got given an International Registered Letter last week from Australia along with my other Registered items to deliver, the barcode wouldn't scan and entering it into the PDA manually gave an error. I had to put it on one of the old Epod cards and get a signature that way.

I've had tracked items that say no signature required, but have two barcodes. If you scan them both One requires a signature the other doesn't!!!

I get a lot of packets from the US with a barcode that the PDA's accept. managers in my office have no idea these items scan into the RM system.
