Not being treated fairly..Or am i?

Hi all, Only been on here a week or so and been a postie for nearly 3 months now (My contract runs out in a couple weeks but got extended after a month and a half of working for RM).
I've been moved around a fair bit and know about 5 rounds pretty well now.
Yesterday another employee told me i was on Parcels with the Transit today, so i went in today only to be told my the DOM (who isnt our usual one) that i was on Parcels with a HCT and that there wasn't a van available. Really annoyed me because since i've been there who ever is on Parcels always gets van, and some of them are huge meaning you can only fit 2/3 in the trolley and that could be a mile walk to the drop then back to collect more and so on all day...

Then yesterday i was told to come in at 9 as someone else was going to prep for me (This manager in for a while seems to be going on a overtime cut down) so i get there at 8.50 to find only my first box of mail had been prepped and everything else was piled on the frame, luckily i had been on that round for a few weeks and knew it fine so i prepped it all up bundled up etc, loaded van and got to my first stop at 10:10. Normally i would be 30/40 mins in by this time!

Last week this DOM asks if i can do extra absorption as someone else was doing it but going over, costing the company money (They were the words) and they know i finish a bit earlier so i said yes. This then put me over my time meaning it was still costing them extra money, Then i find out that the guy who normally does it was finishing before me now!
I told them and they asked 3/4 others and they all say no, so im back doing it. Then the normal guy goes back onto that round and he doesnt have to do it!

Well today i had enough and went home, i felt if i went to talk to them about it then i would of told them what i really thought of them (as people as well as managers) which is why i left.
Got a call an hour and a bit later so i raised all of the above subjects and was pretty much told thats just how it is and when i said that i felt i had to say yes, i was told that wasn't the case... anyway im not sacked (shame), and am on a round i know tomorrow. DOM ofcourse mentioned straight away i would be docked a days wages.


Sorry for the long essay, but i felt i had to get it off my chest and would like all your opinions etc, is this fair? am i just being picky?

You see all this - the other guy does this, the other guy does that, - forget it.

Go to work. Do your job. Do overtime if you want. Make sure they pay you for it. Go home.

doing parcels without a van hes taking the mickey mouse out of you . but at least you could just walk round doing a couple in a HCT if your doing that all the parcels wont be completed simples

god i would do them like that all day long 10 packets a day would get done is this the way forward when they scrap all the vans

They will only mug you off if you let them, if the extra absorption takes you over your time then tell them you will not get time to do t and will be leaving the office on your finish time whether its done or not , if they want you to so packets with a trolley then do just that and then cut off when your time is up even if you have loads left that is their problem and I promise you next time you will get a van. Stand up for yourself a bit, DOMs love people like you who they can talk a load of crap to just to get more work out of you. You have rights and you have a union, don't be afraid to use them.

Do overtime if you need the money, don't be a suck up, its not gonna put you in any better light, its just gonna mark you as a walkover by managers. Its funny how your DOM talks about saving money by not getting certain people to do lapsing, but then expects you to deliver parcels with no van! It would take a week to do a days parcels by foot! Join the union, they pretty useless but it seems to worry managers and DOM's when you're a member.

Sick to death of reading crap like this on here. Why do people whinge and moan about the job when they've only been doing it a couple of months. Do as directed, work to your time if your going to go over tell lino before you leave the office. Dont drop other people in because they're finishing earlier than you, and definately dont walk off the job. We've all shovelled crap when we were newbies thats how it goes it will get better with time.

When I was a newbie the crap we shovelled was like a day off compared to what a new start has to put up with now.
If I started next monday I would jack it in next tuesday.

Number one rule in my book is DONT try and please the managers so they like you or help you etc . If they could stab you in the back to help themselves they would . They forget the good deed you done for them as soon as you've done it . They just want you to do as much as you can with the least amount of hassle and if you suck up to them to be liked then they love that .

that sounds like a piss take...however if they said to me take a HCT and do packets and have to top up all the time id take that lol...complete joke that but sounds pretty sweet if you play it right...

i had similar problem with a manager last year around xmas time. i put a B & H in. i get left alone now generally.
