Given that this appears to be happening all over the country, I doubt if Moya is ignorant of the fact and I doubt if anyone really cares.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Yes, farce, all to try and make management look good, i.e. nothing returned etc. In a properly run company they would look in to why you get more than you need and deal with it effectively, but the RM approach is sweep under the carpet and hope nobody notices. I doubt anyone really gives a s**t, including those at the top, I doubt the companies sending these leaflets care, they get extra coverage. Obviously posties and customers get pissed off, but their feelings are not important, it's all about the money...

Why are you getting over, surely the perfect systems that exist in RM could not, ever, count the wrong number for your given walk. It must be post-people not delivering them.

The whole issue is that at some point a Senior Manager decided that there would be a zero returns policy for D2D's.

This was then thought as a 'good' idea and then the next question was how to implement.

Tell you what ; just re-deliver the buggers.

Whst of course should have happened is different

Clearly some posties are not doing their d2ds as well as the overestimations.

I get really annoyed when a partner in a P&L decides not to go to a property with d2ds just because they do not have other letters. The worst part is one of the colleagues especially leave the d2ds in my bags - that could potentially get me in trouble if we get a bag check.

There are also colleagues that just prep d2ds into slots only with letters; so by the end of the week there are loads left...

D2Ds should always be prepped in first as they are now part of the mail and people should take their 1/6 everyday. Management should get a grip!

BTW, the same folks that short-cut are also some of the grassers in the office - they like to grass on Part-timers and newer staff - managers, of course are ready to believe them.

Agree with much. Only point would be that (under the agreement) D2D's should be prepped last. And to tell the truth I find that easier than already having them in the frame.

But the basiic principle of doing a sixth a day should apply ; and be policed. There is no excuse and it is easy to police.

That D2D agreement is somewhat behind the times or pre general Revison and P&L.

D2D are part of the mail so they can be prepped at any time. You cannot seriously tell me that you will wait for all your mail to arrive before putting in your D2Ds. The mail rarely ever all arrive at the same time - so you will be wasting some time waiting instead of engaging yourself with the D2Ds.

For all the 27hr staff in my office; they have no choice on the matter, the D2Ds are usually prepped in, the day before by OPGS, managers or Spares.

My personal routine is to prep my D2Ds as soon as I come in regardless of what the mail traffic is. All the mail will have to go in at some stage so I do not understand the issue of it being faster or not.

I will rather have my flats in before my mech because I prefer to have them big sized at the back and it feels like a breeze when I am doing the mech but we cannot have all we want.

Each to their own but I still maintain that the people that gets away with not prepping all the d2ds are those that prep them last. My manager sees me doing my d2ds; there is no issue whatsoever. I work with a few backstabbers so I try to keep my nose clean...

I agree the best idea is to prep D2D in first.
Most managers faced with a ticking clock and the possibility of an OPG handing mail back will tell them to leave the D2D every time,Many OPGs faced with a ticking clock and either the opportunity to finish early or the hassle of handing back mail will leave the D2D every time.

It's just too tempting for all involved if it's left to last.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Wow!.. I am amazed you guys get to prep your d2d's . Me and my partner struggle every Monday (a light mail day)to throw ours in and when we inform a manager that we will be cutting off so we can throw d2d's in, they kick up a stink saying "no we will throw them in today " .. so we leave them and get on with the job.
When we return to the office.. guess what?.. suprise! Surprise! No d2d's thrown in, this continues through the week until about Thurs, fri (the heavy mail days )..when they are all thrown in, so Thursday,Friday, and Sat we have a lot of weight to haul around even with trolleys ..
Last week was a typical example of this failure!,we had 6 d2d's that were thrown in on Thurs, we couldn't possibly deliver them all before Saturday, so we approached the DOM .. his words were "deliver them next week as well" .. Please note: we had more d2d the next week too add these and would have to be delivered together with the previous weeks.. Phew!!
This situation is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.

We never stop on our walk as soon as we enter the DO we start throwing in ..we never take our morning break cos that would cause us to cut off, instead we take 10mins mid walk and don't take our 20 mins .. this keeps us on track and we normally just get back 5 or ten mins b4 or just after time ..
So I ask you the question guys .. when do we get time to throw our d2d's in ?

Wow! I am more amazed by your revelation! Your office is a shambles!!

D2Ds are part of the mail, and ideally 1/6 should be done everyday during your contracted time... Unless, of course you are a 24 or 27 hours employee and then it should be thrown out for you as by my experience and deliver everyday.

It is really up to you whether you want to be doing loads of d2ds on thurdays or fridays - you should get it sorted with your rep. Throw out your d2ds then cut-off or claim OT if you cannot finish at your contracted finish time.

Questions:

> Are you 24 or 27 hours?
> Are you post-revision? (it appears so)
