complaint league chart

Hi.
Our DOM, in his wisdom, has started a league chart of walks with the most complaints. Has this happened in any other offices? Personally I think that this is a negative "name and shame" chart. In our office this chart has encouraged every dimwitted joker to take the mickey out of the people on it. The board stands 6' X 4'.

They tried it in ours,not with names but the address of the complaint which amounts to the same thing.
They didn't even get a chance to put it up before they were told to f**k off.

It does show the mentality of the management structure in Royal Mail and we all know who that's lead by and they don't have a Candian accent.

If they really understood what counselling, continual improvement and leadership meant they would have polite and informal discussions with persistent offenders in private from the rest of the office, then if that doesn't sort it out start a formal stage. They should also know that no one can work at 100% efficiency despite what the BSI says and allowances SHOULD be made.

However, showing a league table of the worst performing walks demotivates, embarrasses, opens divides and whats worse isn't even fairly or accurately applied as even a duty holder won't be on his own duty for at least 1/6 of the time.

Do these people even understand what they are trying to push.

The person who tops our chart is being taken down the conduct code, and to my knowledge he is the only one on the chart who is! I know this to be true because Im number 1 on the chart. And Ive had every anker in the office taking the hiss out of me.

Got em in ours as well.......................no one gives a s**t, just another useless suit trying to justify their job, the only board we read is the Union one.

Having charts like that up summount to harrassment & bullying. If your on the list, put in a grievence about harrassment & victimisation.

Managers should look at the reasons why there are complaints against individuals to see if there's a problem or simply a case of retraining. It should be a personal matter between your manager and the person involved.

They tried that at my office, they had all the walks listed on a whiteboard and the nature of the complaint......it was off the wall within 2 hours. As far as i'm concerned it is B & H, if they want some sort of chart up they can put it in their office and not on display.

is there a chart for who uses a trolley and who doesn't
is there a chart for who doorsteps packets and who doesnt
Is there a chart for who leaves the most mail behind before starting the round
is there a chart for who comes in early and who doesn't
etc etc.

Plus what about a chart for bullshitting customers who didnt answer the door because they was on the bog, in the shower, had headphones on were stoned ,drunk or asleep or in the garden

Our reps head is so far up the managers arse he hasnt seen the light of day in years.

Had this in our office but it was pointless. It didn't take into account if the complaint was made due to the regular postman on a walk or rest day holiday cover etc. Think it lasted about a fortnight! Total waste of time!
