working on bank holidays

Can anyone please tell me when was the rules was changed, that when you worked a public holidays ie collections you got the choice of [option a] time and a half plus a lieu day or [option b] double time.

It isn't worth it. It destroys a whole day, for very little money and too much trouble.
Don't know about any changes, i.e. when volunteers have been asked for in my office, no mention made of changes to pay options.

I also thought the options were time and a half and a day back, or double time. I've worked the last two bank holidays and the DOM asked me which option I want I've said double time please, just been looking through my wage slips and I have got option B time and a half..

the rates are roughly

£8.50 an hour ish and a day in leiu option A

or £14 something an hour option B

the terms time and a half and double time refer to old pay rates ( very old) as these options have not gone up each time we have had a pay rise
