Not quite sure why you are asking that, your time with RM is totally irrelevant to having a temporary or permanent contract.

you are not the norm then... its very unlikely to get a perm contract within a year, I thought royal mail only employed new starters on temp contracts...

The chap that started a couple of weeks after me has one, also the majority of the people on our induction course were on permanent contracts. I can't remember the precise number but about 7 or 8 out of 12.

i had to wait over 3 years to get mine, when i applied for job it was permanent contract.... but when i went for induction it had changed to fixed term, i was only one in group that it had changed on.

I was taken on as a Part Timer (20 hours) with a one year fixed contract. About 6 weeks later another contract was posted through my door.............. I thought they must have made a change to the small print in my original contract, but upon closer inspection I discovered that I was being given a new permanent contract.

well then...i think the company is giving out more perm contracts to keep employers from leaving it makes you feel more worthwhile if your contract is perm in relation to temp.

so a long term contract is a perm contract? all my letter states is that is commences from the 12th just gone? i hope so only waited a couple weeks over 3 years
