Career Break
I'm looking at taking a career break as I'm interested in going travelling for 6 months or so. How likely am I to be accepted? And how long can I take?

You must have worked for RM for over 12 months and you can take 12 months off over a 3 year period. I took 6 months off and buggered off to Thailand. Good luck.

You can take between 1 and 3 years off (more in exceptional circumstances) and in theory you have to work 2 weeks in every year off -I did work when I took a 1 year break but didn't when I took 3 years off, it seems to depend on your manager/dom.Anything less than a year needs to be taken off as special leave (ie unpaid leave) and again is up to your manager/dom. Enjoy!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Yep, highly reliant on your DOM, I would say. I took 18 months in total.
