Just a quick one basically sent home today as the mail couldn't reach our office.The 3 options given were either: Stick it out till finish time tidy the office etc/Go home and owe them a day/Take the day as annual leave if any outstanding.
I went home and as I had some annual leave outstanding they took a day from that.Since then some other's in the office have received an e-mail from the union stating that if they send you home and ask for the hours back it's simply not right and you don't owe them anything.
Seeing as I took a days annual leave surely this is the same scenario as owing hours i.e I should get the day back?

Option one - spend your hours looking busy in the office is best. The other two are traps - if you agree to either of them your stuffed.
Much better to wait for them to tell you to go home so you dont `owe` anything.

No, because they offered you work until your time. If they send you home because there is no work then you will not lose holiday or owe them time.
There is no agreement in the Way Forward or BT2010 to claw back hours.

Tomorrow will be interesting. I`ve got nearly a days worth of mail left today after we were called back off deliveries. The weather isnt THAT BAD !!

We were sent home. I was then informed by a fellow colleague that he was told we won't be allowed to book any overtime tomorrow or Monday if we manage to get out on delivery to clear the back log. I'm on a 24hour contract and only manage to survive by booking overtime! Can they do this?

No overtime, no completion. Let the idle bstrds do it themselves if they are not prepared to pay. Enforced overtime is illegal.

If you can't complete without doing overtime and they won't pay overtime then it simply doesn't get done. End off. These w*****s are meant to be managers. Get them to manage.
