Rotating day off

Howdy folks,

Could someone explain how the rotating day off works?

if your lucky, you normally only get a rotating day off if you sign for a walk or duty, but new starts will prob be floaters or reserves so will get random days off/

I agree with Stella. I seem to get any random day off. It's a complete pain as you can't plan more than a week in advance what to do on day off. I also care for my mum who has just had major open heart surgery and its getting ridiculous trying to get to hospital appts.

If you are the carer you get carers rights and will be able to attend appointments etc.

Yes thats how it works, then every 6 weeks you get a long weekend, saturday, sunday, monday off.

We have a major appointment coming up on the 10/01 with her surgeon to see if the surgery was a success. Hoping I haven't got to change it to a more convenient time for Royal Mail.

Many thanks for your help. It would take a weight off my mind. You know what the Nhs are like at changing appointments etc...

How many days a week are you contracted to work?

As far as I can remember the hours are 2pm - 6pm across 5 days

Also my missus is due our second child at the end of Feb.. I presume you have to be in RM for so long before I can get Paternity leave?

If you can't get the days off using your annual leave,you should be able to have it off as special leave,and the chances are it would be unpaid...

Dang... I'll need to get started soon if I stand a chance of any paternity! I dont mind tho, I'll be about in the morning and nighttime which is much better that the hours I currently do (11pm - 7am)

Also do posties clock out immediately after they finish their walk? Saw quite a few people saying "In at this time... out at that time" .. if you finish early you get to go home but do you still get your full set hours pay?

I think it is Pay and Modernisation 2007 where we first agreed to work all our paid hours.
If the DO is running properly (clear office) there isn't any more work to do when you finish your delivery, so Job and Finish is still alive and kicking.
