Reading the Courier it suggests that only special delivery and international items are exempt from delivery to neighbour.Reading the FAQ's on the royal mail website question 11..WHAT ABOUT RECORDED SIGNED FOR.I AM PAYING A FEE FOR A SIGNATURE AND YET YOU WILL BE DELIVERING TO A NEIGHBOUR...We will continue to request a signature for recorded signed for items,where a delivery to neighbour is applied we will request that the accepting neighbour provides the signature.The only exception to this is citations(which carry appropriate instructions on the envelope)sent recorded signed for by the Scottish courts where we have a legal requirement to deliver as addressed.Question 14...I DO NOT WANT THE ITEM I I AM SENDING DELIVERED TO A NEIGHBOUR.I WANT IT DELIVERED DIRECTLY TO THE PERSON I HAVE ADDRESSED IT TO...Senders of mail are not able to opt out and request that the item are delivered to the intended recipient only,If the recipient is not at home for recorded signed for or for packages that are too large for the letterbox then these items will be delivered to a neighbour unless the recipient or neighbour has opted out of delivery to neighbour .All these suggest that we can deliver recorded signed for items to neighbours,my Dom says he has been told anything requiring a signature cannot be left with a neighbour.Who is correct?..and shouldn't we all be singing off the same hymn sheet .What is the official version.

This would be for me personal judgement - which is the defining principle behind the "Delivery to a neighbour scheme" and until the confusion is cleared up by the Manager giving you written instructions, then I would go for the safe option of everything needing a signature is returned to the office.

for those that have had a revision,have you been allocated more time to carry out this delivery to a neighbour nonsense ? If not, why are the union so quiet on this subject ? Are they just going to accept the rm story that it doesnt add any extra time to our delivery span.

The answer to that is NO! In fact in our office when it first came in we didn't have a wtl or anything about it! Management know it carn't be done in time, so we carry on as normal. Utter shambles.

Special Delivery and International items requiring a signature are not part of the service and normal operational processes will continue to apply to these items.

Not in our office a check is being made on all items brought back to the calllers office to see whether attempts were made with neighbours

Dont think the intended recipient would be particularly happy if he found out their neighbour signed for the recorded item and them now knowing something that is confidential.
Plus where does that stand with the Courts if they have sent an item out expecting it to be sent to a witness or defendant they will presume they have received it if they see a signiture

I'm not sure about anywhere else but in Scotland Court Citations are excluded from the Deliver To Neighbour Scam/Scheme.
