My delivery office is around 10 miles away from where I live, and its hard to get there by public transport (2+ hour journey each way), anyway I commute by car and this usually takes around 30 minutes each way. Problem is my car broke down last night, and have been told it cannot be fixed until Saturday at the earliest. I can get a lift to work on Friday, but I cannot get a lift to work tomorrow, and I don't really want to go by public transport, simply because it takes so long. I am already on a stage 2, so if I call in tomorrow and say that I cannot make it in, due to my car breaking down, will this trigger a stage 3 ?

he may decide that someone can come out and collect you in a RM van, but I would'nt hold your breath.

although I did get collected a couple of years back when I got snowed in only to almost crash the van on the way into work.

That might happen, especially if its a heavy day, like predicted. though it is an hour return journey to the delivery office from my house, that is if I get a lift back to my house , which I doubt I would.

There is a nearby office, however, P & L is in operation there, it has not been introduced in my office yet, and I have not had any driver training from RM so I doubt I would find a place there.

It sounds straight forward, when you put it like that. But its almost epic the journey via public transport, with three different bus connections, and considering its going to pish down tomorrow, I don't fancy after walking for 4 + hours to then go and stand about waiting for buses and then sitting on a bus like a damp squid for 2 + hours. I did this last time my car broke down, and it was a terrbile experience which I'm not keen to repeat.

What time have you got to be in,and what time will you phone him,and what if he says get the feck in or else?

You don't need it do the walk loops and get the tracked and specials took off you and use your old card system but get a card for your new office!.

Start 8.00am, going to phone at 7.00 am. If he says get the feck in or else then I will say I cannot make it in, unless you come and pick me up and drop me back when I'm finished.

A cab would cost me 25 quid each way ! I'm only a part-timer, so it would end up costing me money if I took cab there and back, and I'd be working for peanuts if I took cab there and bus back. Im just making ends meet as it is with this job.
To be honest this was always going to be a problem since I was transferred from my old DO. My current DO is just too far away from where I live, if the car breaks down as it has, then it becomes really tough to get to work, which is why I have a stage 2. I have been wanting a transfer to my local DO but have had no joy.

Public transport tomorrow then buy a cheap pushbike,better than loosing a job,make the effort.
