Non Elastic Bands - False Economy?

The elastic bands we are using at the moment, I guess for the last three weeks or so, are definitely somewhat....................fragile.
They may have been procured at some sort of knockdown bargain price but if so I am not sure they are saving RM any money. If you use them singly on anything but a few envelopes they tend to snap so you double up, even then one or both will snap on a decently sized bundle so you have to use 3 to try and guarantee a first time tie up. If everyone is doing this how many shedloads of bands are being wasted every day?

We should buy better, bigger and fewer. Save money on the amount of rubber and time wasted by snapping bands....ow!.......ouch!.......you ba*ta*d!!!!!!!!!!

you should have tried the reds ones then, if you think these light brown ones are bad.

at least with the newer ones you can use them for a few days before they snap, the red one's would fall apart as soon as daylight hit them.

They DO !!!!. Don't stretch them. Don't get them wet and store them in a dark box. There you go ! Will last 12 months !

I thought they were designed to be biodegradable so when dropped they would degrade and not be a long term litter problem, downside well we all know that one.

We ran out of bands last week and the new supply is atrocious. Luckily I reuse all mine. Colleagues might not run out if they didn't chuck them all over the streets and around the gearstick.

Are they actually any good for reusing then? I don't throw them on the street but then bin them when I get back? The old red ones were just useless after one use. The majority of them would break if you tried to reuse them.

The ones they introduced after withdrawing the famous red bands lasted quite a while - maybe a good week or so at a time, not sure

For each bundle I use approx 4 of these elastic bands, cause two of them snap. Apart from the waste of the elastic bands that break, it also takes longer to band up so costs RM more money in the long term. Same with the pens, they're useless as well.

Nice and strong 500 will last a couple of months... Hopefully I may get some for xmas....

Na they used to be £1 per 100.... a bargain now..... only 2.5p each.... while stocks last.... get 2 packets for £3.50p at a stretch....
