Managers and Time OFF
i have a manager at my office who has the worst sick record in the building, yet this same manager talks like a doctor when he is reprimanding postmen for time off, im just wondering if these managers/doctors are ever taken down the conduct code for time off as we are

Re: Managers and Time OFF
i reckon the answer is no, they are never staged for their "sick" record.

Funny what you said about being a doctor when he wants to be, I have a couple of managers like that. They come out with such crap as "Well I'm not a doctor but......'insert amateur diagnosis here'.......surely you can still come in."

Re: Managers and Time OFF
That single line there shows how poor management training in Royal Mail is. The book says that they should encourage an early return to work, but because they don't train managers in leadership skills, they see the above line as encouragement when its the exact opposite.TheCobra wrote:......surely you can still come in."
If managers were trained properly, and they really understood the meaning of the phrase "all absences are genuine", and they understood how to encourage with leadership then the statement would be "........... ok, hope you get better soon and keep in touch. Ring me if I can help"

Re: Managers and Time OFF
Chances are we didn't work in the same office, but my old manager, now promoted to a high up job, did have the worst sick record in the south east. Many offices knew about him as he knew how to play the system with certain illnesses and issues. Try 4 months off back for 2 weeks then another 3 months off. Pity he's still alive otherwise I would name. Nasty bit of works to boot too.Dumpys Rusty Nuts wrote:i have a manager at my office who has the worst sick record in the building, yet this same manager talks like a doctor when he is reprimanding postmen for time off, im just wondering if these managers/doctors are ever taken down the conduct code for time off as we are

Re: Managers and Time OFF
I think technically non-executive managers are under the same absence management system as us. They just know how to play the system better and look after each other. There is a DOM in our sector who goes off sick for 3-4 months every time the DSM changes and seems to get anyway with it

When he was in he was the biggest bullying git you could ever imagine. If I had the time I would list everything that he did. Some of it was beyond belief. My office just rolled over and took it rearwards.mr ford wrote:he cant be that nasty has hes never there to bol ::ck anyonesidewinder wrote:Chances are we didn't work in the same office, but my old manager, now promoted to a high up job, did have the worst sick record in the south east.
