Anyone know why some offices are in tomorrow sorting outward mail, can the Mail Centre not cope or is there problems
there. Theres at least 3 offices in tomorrow to clear outward mail.

those offices are sorting diversion mail. sunday overtime everyone happy otherwise they would,nt do it.

It really depends on the office, in years gone by my office did the diversion work but in the past couple of years, there has just been too much of our own work to be able to cope with all the crap the MC doesn't want to do.

Where is the mail diverted from ? I am sure if it is from an office in dispute these people would not handle it.

Really, maybe if you in the MCs didn't piss about, taking extra long breaks and actually doing the work you're paid to do then you wouldn't need the DOs to bail you out. Remember that you have extra staff to do all the work so why aren't you succeeding

we dont piss about most of the mail centre staff work damn hard.we take only the breaks we are due WITHIN our working time NOT at the end unlike some of our delivery friends,and we make ZERO time at the end. management are at fault in this instance they cant handle the slightest bit of pressure totally incompetent. in the nimc we are choc-a-bloc with casual staff, managers move staff from the tasks they perform year round to do stupid menial tasks therefor less sorting more standing about. yes diverted mail is being sorted at d.os thats managements decision not the staffs! we want the work. i personally havnt sorted a single letter since the (pressure) started

maybe thats an issue. i dont want overtime i spend 8 hours a day in a big smelly building working for a bunch of mental patients! at least in d.os you get out for a few hours

Daer oh dear I colud not have put it better myself, on my last trip there it seemed to be compulsory for everyone to walkabout with a newspaper sticking out of their back pockets. Perhaps less time reading the football results and more time on the sorting there would be no need for the smaller offices to come to your rescue.

I thought it was common practice at Christmas for the local MC to offload some of the sorting on DOs for volunteers to do after completing delivery - it was called IVO. I remember my first Christmas was indoors sorting the Highlands and Islands.
