long term contract

Been doing the job for about 18 months and just recieved my new contract . Expecting to see the usual 3 months , lo and behold the heading for the contract says Long term contract for operational postal grade.
Is this a record to be made pernament in this short amount of time or have they made a cock up

Got mine today. Only been there 6 months :)

It appears to be a business wide decision.
Our entire area has been done.
Around 60 FTC's converted to substantial this week.
I think the only exception is in offices that have still to have a revision.

Nice to have some good news on here.

Cannot imagine what it must be like trying to run a house,pay a mortgage etc,never knowing if your contract is going to be renewed from one month to the next.

Hopefully i'll get made permanent soon enough too! Will have been with RM for 2 years in Feb....no contract through the door yet tho :(

Have been told by our CWU rep that you get a permanent contract after 12 months. it used to be 4 years I think before that.

Yes.
By law a fixed term contract must have a start date and a finish date even if the finish date is just an estimate and the contract "rolls on".

Will be 3 years for me next month on a temp rolling contract and still no sign of being made permanent.
