Cards and Letterboxes

Hello, i have been lurking on this site for a while now, under another name but decided that i wanted something a bit less easy to identify me as it seems to be the best way these days.

I just have a general query that has bugged me since i started, and have never got a straight answer on, what is the best thing to do with chrismas/birthday/special occasion cards when the person has a letterbox tht can only fit a small letter without bending them in half. A round i occasionally cover has loads of these letterboxes and with christmas on the way it seems like a good time to get an answer.

The way i always see it is people wouldn't want to recieve cards that have a bend in them, and the customer would no doubt not want the card they sent to be folded, but they never have do not bend written on them, i normally knock and try and get rid of it that way after seeing how much would need bending to get it through if it needs to go in half or really folded over and there is no answer i P739 it. It just never feels right P739ing a card and it is a damn nuisence having to stand writing it out for something i could easily get through with a bit of encouragement.

What do you guys do, and is there a rule?

If you can 'flex' them without creasing then fine they can go through the door if the appature is so small the item will crease then knock, if no reply then carry out the P739 proceedure. If its a certificate, Xray or photograph then it's not worth the hasstle or consequence in trying to 'flex' them.

I have always bent the mail/card and have never had any comments. If the customer does not want their mail bent in half then they can widen the LB or get an external box (but not....please...those inadequate aluminium ones that are useless and shred your ringers as you try to push the flimsiest of mail inside)

I always P739'd them. Any complaints regarding it, you're covered as you couldn't deliver it without damaging the item.

Unless it says 'Do not bend' it gets bent - don't like it then get a proper letterbox!

I like to do that to a resident that's never in for packets. I could put it under the door

I've got one of them on my walk loads of CD's etc ,never in.I think it's a rented house and the landlord won't put a wider box in.....if they would buy one i would put it in for them!!

If it says "Do Not Bend" 739 it, any thing else gets folded.

I know one lad who got fed up of one house having "Do Not Bend" letters every day, one day he was in a bad mood, wrote "Yes it Does" on the envelope, folded it and pushed it through..... never heard a dickie bird about it.
