A lot of people got paid last week so this week is probably going to be rough, hopefully it will stay fairly dry. I can cope with the cold but standing writing P739s in the pouring rain when you know the customer knew full well they wouldn't be in really bugs me.

Had to laugh last week.
We have about 75% of postmen at our delivery office coming in early unpaid .
There are about 10 of us that come in at our normal start time and our managers were throwing off some of our rounds before we got in.
Can I stop him doing this?

I'm going in an hour early tomorrow on OT to do IPS and I bet half the office will be there already (unpaid). On saturday some of the pt who are supposed to start two hours later than me were already in when I got there (again unpaid). They must be nuts

Who cares how busy it is you just do your hours and that's the managers problem. Bet they hate going out on walks in December because i'm cutting off right up to Christmas as my kids finish school early and the nights are getting darker.

How can you know you are cutting off everyday up until xmas? We had cut offs in our office last week somedays. I suspect this week might be the same and more likely the nearer we get, but I fail to see how you can know in advance unless you are planning on failing. That kind of talk could land you in the serious doggy doo.

Rocky, Those of us with a memory stretching back to last Christmas pressure and the one before have a good idea if we "are cutting off everyday up until xmas", that's what's known as knowledge and experience not "planning on failing".
It's the managers that are paid to 'plan' yet the increased workload every December always appears to come as a great surprise to them.
It's different in Mail Centres and for Collections but that's how it is on Delivery.

You are going to have 6145 pieces of mail, 37 packets and 12 over weights..... 14 recorded, 2 specials, 13 missorts, a redelivery, and a partridge in a pear tree....... I also have Wednesdays winning lotto numbers if anyone wants them
